What comes with the kit is, mildly said, a square piece of plastic and does not at all replicate an original XKE engine. So a new one has been constructed. The pictures show the first prototype for checking dimensions and fittings. Still a long way to go...
Der Motor, welcher im Bausatz enthalten ist, ist, vorsichtig gesagt, nur ein rechteckiger Klotz aus Plastik und hat absolut nichts mit einem originalen XKE Motor gemein. Also musste ein neuer konstruiert werden. Die Bilder zeigen den ersten Prototypen, welcher für notwendigen Anpassungen am Model benötigt wird. Da wartet noch etwas Arbeit...

And yes, even with the bonnet on an closed all is good and fits perfectly. New battery (21 individual pcs.) is also in.
Auch mit geschlossener Haube - alles passt so, wie es geplant war. Eine neue Batterie (21 Einzelteile) ist nun ebenfalls verbaut.
The big cat needs to breathe - test fitting the new inlet and exhaust manifold. All good...

Some work has been done and new parts were created for the rear axle, differential as well as the brakes.
Die Hinterachse samt Differential und Bremsen benötigten einiges an Detailing sowie neuen Teilen.
The underside as well as the rear suspension needed some extensive work and new parts.
Der Unterboden sowie die Hinterradaufhängung benötigte einiges an Arbeit und neue Teile.
All new front suspension - nearly 100 new parts.
Die neue Vorderradaufhängung - aus fast 100 neuen Teilen.
The new engine is done, consisting out of over 240 parts.
Der neue Motor ist fertig, bestehend aus über 240 Einzelteilen.
New radiator, oil cooler and data plate.
Neuer Wasser-, und Ölkühler sowie Datenplatte.
Slowly but surely... getting there. The cat is awaiting its new engine.
Langsam aber sicher nähert es sich dem Ende. Die Katze wartet nun auf ihren neuen Motor.
